Bulk Container Manufacturer to Invest $31 Million in Missouri

Published: August 5, 2025
Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe announced a $31 million expansion by Schütz Container Systems, a German company specializing in intermediate bulk containers. This investment will establish a new industrial packaging product line in St. Joseph, creating 20 jobs. Schütz's expansion highlights the strength of Missouri's manufacturing sector and skilled workforce. It represents the company's first operation among 14 North American sites to utilize fully electric equipment for enhanced production efficiency and environmental cleanliness.

Frederik Wenzel, president and CEO of Schütz's U.S. subsidiary, emphasized that the skilled workforce and community support in St. Joseph contributed to the decision to invest there. State officials from Missouri attracted Schütz following a trade mission in 2022 and are providing financial incentives through the Missouri Works program.

The expansion supports not only local job creation but also broader regional economic development, symbolizing the potential of strategic partnerships in revitalizing local economies. As an expert in transportation, I would note that the location of manufacturing facilities along key logistical corridors, such as the one in St. Joseph, enhances supply chain efficiency, ultimately benefiting distribution networks and end customers alike. Such initiatives demonstrate how targeted investments in manufacturing can yield significant economic returns and facilitate technological advancements in production.
