The 26th running of Woody's RV World Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K races is just two weeks away. The event will take place in Red Deer, Alberta, on Sunday, May 17. Hundreds of athletes from all over will gather to compete for the title through the city's park and trail system.
The marathon will be 42.2 kilometers long, followed by a half-marathon at 21 kilometers. There will also be a 10K race and a kids' fun run, making it accessible to runners of all levels.
Treasurer Curtis Marquart emphasizes that the event is for everyone, regardless of running experience or speed. He notes that while some elite athletes participate, others simply want to stay active, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy the outdoors.

The long-running event is repeatedly ranked among Alberta's best races, offering a unique and scenic course along the Red Deer River.
The marathon starts at 8 a.m. at Ecole Camille J. Lerouge School, followed by the half-marathon at 8:15 a.m. and the 10K race at 8:30 a.m. The kids' fun run takes place at 10:30 a.m.
The award ceremony will be held in the school at 1 p.m., where participants can receive their medals and prizes.
This year, however, the marathon will not be used as a qualifier for the Boston marathon due to changes in the qualification process.
Despite this change, the event remains popular among runners, who come from all over to experience the beautiful Red Deer River course and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
The event attracts runners from all walks of life, making it an inclusive and diverse racing experience.
