Dollar Tree Expands Distribution Network

Dollar Tree has opened a one million-square foot distribution center in Litchfield Park, Arizona, outside of Phoenix. The new facility will service about 700 stores in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. This is the largest distribution center for Dollar Tree, supporting its extensive retail network across North America. With this addition, the company now has 19 distribution centers that serve over 9,240 stores nationwide.

The new distribution center will enable faster product delivery to customers and improve overall supply chain efficiency. By moving product closer to its stores, Dollar Tree aims to reduce lead times and increase customer satisfaction. This strategic move is part of a broader investment strategy to optimize the company's distribution network and modernize its logistics operations.

Dollar Tree's chief supply chain officer, Roxanne Weng, stated that the new facility will help the company serve customers more quickly. The expansion is also part of a plan to upgrade the company's warehouse and yard management systems with cloud-based platforms. These upgrades aim to improve inventory planning, visibility, and execution, ultimately strengthening Dollar Tree's cost structure.

The addition of temperature-controlled storage in all distribution centers was completed last year. This upgrade has helped even out product flow to stores, reducing overcrowding in back rooms and improving throughput per facility. As a result, Dollar Tree is seeing a decrease in out-of-stock items and an overall improvement in its operational efficiency.

Dollar Tree plans to open its next distribution center in Marietta, Oklahoma, in spring 2027. The new facility will also have one million-square feet of capacity and serve about 700 stores in the Southwest and West. This expansion is part of a larger investment strategy to optimize the company's network and improve customer satisfaction.

The enhanced Marietta facility will feature advanced logistics operations, including cloud-based platforms for inventory management and supply chain optimization. These upgrades are expected to further improve Dollar Tree's operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Dollar Tree's distribution expansion is a significant step towards improving supply chain efficiency and customer satisfaction. By investing in modern logistics operations and optimizing its network, the company aims to stay competitive in the retail market and drive growth.

The company's focus on supply chain optimization is also driven by the need to address emerging threats such as freight fraud. As the industry continues to evolve, Dollar Tree must adapt to new challenges and opportunities to remain successful.

Dollar Tree's investment in its distribution network demonstrates the company's commitment to improving customer satisfaction and driving growth through operational efficiency.
