Ducati Unveils Blacked-Out Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera

The new Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera is the latest addition to Ducati's single-cylinder supermoto line-up. The bike features a blacked-out design with a new, stealthy look, including black bodywork and Ducati Red wheels. This visually striking appearance is complemented by homologated black-finished Termignoni silencers as standard.

The Nera model adds extra equipment to Ducati's lightweight single-cylinder platform, including the Ducati Quick Shift Up/Down system fitted as standard. This further boosts the bike's sporty credentials both on the road and on track. The bike's sporty features are matched by its impressive performance figures.

At the heart of the Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera lies Ducati's Superquadro Mono engine, a chopped-down version of the old 1299 Panigale twin-cylinder motor. This engine uses Ducati's trademark Desmodromic valve system and features several key components from the superbike engine.

The result is a claimed 77.5bhp and a 10,250rpm rev limit, figures that make it the highest-performing road-going single-cylinder engine currently on sale. The bike itself remains impressively lightweight, tipping the scales at a claimed 151kg wet but without fuel.

Ducati achieves this low weight thanks to a lightweight trellis frame, aluminium-flanged brake discs and a pared-back chassis setup designed to keep the bike agile and lively. This combination of features makes the Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera an attractive option for riders seeking a sporty yet accessible motorcycle.

As with all modern Ducati motorcycles, electronics play a major role in the package. The Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera comes loaded with cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, launch control and engine brake control. Additionally, Ducati's Slide-by-Brake system has been specifically developed to help riders back the bike into corners supermoto-style on track.

For those seeking even more performance, a race-only Termignoni exhaust system is available, unlocking an extra 7bhp and activating a dedicated Wheelie Assist function. This feature helps maintain longer balance-point wheelies electronically, further enhancing the bike's sporty credentials.

The new Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera will arrive in European dealerships from June 2026, with pricing starting at £11,995. With its impressive performance figures and sporty features, this motorcycle is sure to appeal to enthusiasts of high-performance motorcycles.
