Dajin Heavy Industry has signed a significant contract with Jumbo Maritime to build two next-generation heavy-lift vessels. The deal is valued at approximately $156 million and covers the design, construction and delivery of the vessels.
The two 25,000-deadweight-tonne vessels are scheduled for phased delivery in 2028 and 2029, marking a substantial investment in the shipbuilding sector. This order showcases Jumbo Maritime's commitment to expanding its fleet with modern and efficient vessels.
Each vessel will measure approximately 163 meters in length, with a beam of around 30 meters and depth of about 16 meters. These dimensions indicate that the ships are designed for heavy-lift operations and can accommodate large cargo loads.
The vessels will be equipped with two heavy-lift cranes rated at 1,200 tonnes each, featuring tandem lifting capacity of up to 2,400 tonnes. This combination ensures that the ships can handle a wide range of cargo types and sizes.
According to Dajin Heavy Industry, the vessels are designed for offshore wind heavy equipment transportation, offshore oil and gas modules, deepwater offshore engineering construction, and transportation of major industrial cargoes. These applications underscore the versatility of the new vessels.
