Lotus has introduced two versions of its plug-in hybrid Eletre X across key European markets, aiming to attract customers looking for an eco-friendly option with a lower price tag. The flagship H1000 variant boasts 939 hp and 690 lb-ft (935 Nm) of torque, while the entry-level H550 model offers 542 hp but retains the same impressive driving range.
The Eletre X plug-in hybrid uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, a 70 kWh battery pack, and a 900-volt architecture, resulting in a combined 939 hp and 690 lb-ft of torque. This gives it 34 more ponies than the all-electric Eletre R, although it is down on that model’s 985 lb-ft (1,335 Nm).
The generous battery pack and 52-liter fuel tank enable the plug-in hybrid Lotus to travel over 745 miles between stops, with an all-electric range of 217 miles. Charging takes just 9 minutes from 20-80 percent at a 350 kW DC charger.
Two different versions of the Eletre X will be offered: the H1000 model and the entry-level H550. The flagship H1000 variant starts at €119,990 ($112,800), while the base all-electric Eletre starts at €95,990 ($111,600). This makes the H1000 a more affordable option for those who want a hybrid SUV with impressive performance.
The Eletre X retains key features from its electric counterpart, including a 48-volt active anti-roll control system and huge Brembo brakes. The plug-in hybrid model also offers a dual-chamber air suspension and adaptive dampers for improved handling.
