Kia Refreshes XCeed With EV-Inspired Looks

The Kia XCeed has received its second major facelift, bringing it in line with the rest of the Kia lineup in terms of design and technology. The update is significant, as it marks a substantial change for the crossover hatchback. The XCeed originally joined the Ceed family in 2019, serving as a high-riding alternative to the traditional hatchback.

The latest styling language borrowed cues from Kia's EVs, with a redesigned face featuring vertical LED headlights and a much slimmer tiger-nose grille. Overall, the new fascia looks more similar to the EV3 and the recently facelifted Stonic than the ultra-aggressive K4.

The greenhouse and sheet metal on the profile are carried over, although the XCeed has gained modern alloy wheels and at least one new shade. The rear end has also been redesigned with full-width LED taillights and a sculpted tailgate.

The interior of the XCeed had started showing its age, but the second facelift brings notable changes. The overhauled dashboard features a modern digital cockpit with dual 12.3-inch displays borrowed from the rest of the Kia lineup.

Kia has yet to detail the powertrains of the facelifted model, but confirmed it will offer gasoline and mild-hybrid options. This likely means that the plug-in hybrid won't be returning to the lineup.

The crossover will also benefit from improved ride comfort, probably courtesy of a revised suspension setup.

Production of the updated Kia XCeed is scheduled to start on May 29 at the Zilina plant. The update marks a significant shift in Kia's European strategy, as it focuses on modernizing its lineup and preparing for electrification.

The move signals Kia's commitment to electrification in the European market, where the XCeed will compete with other electric and hybrid vehicles. With this facelift, Kia is positioning itself for success in the increasingly competitive crossover segment.
